About the air company

The air company "Airzena" was founded in September 1993.
   The air company primarily operated charter flights to China, Egypt and other countries. For that period in spite of complicated economic and political situation, the air company achieved to get its own place and due to the correct strategy retained its share in the aviation market. In 1999 Airzena became the flag carrier of Georgia. On October 1, 2004 the air company changed its name into "Georgian Airways" .
  
In the first half of 2000 the air company's authorities made a decision to renew Soviet technology fleet and leased two aircraft of BOEING 737-500 type from "Hapag-Lloyd" company.
   It was the first case when Georgia commenced the operation of Western technology aircraft.
   Since this time the aircompany is in the permanent process of fleet developing.
   In 2010, Georgian Airways became IATA member (International Air Transport Association http://www.iata.org/). Before acceding to IATA membership the air company underwent IOSA Audit. International experts surveyed the observance of safety standards by the company for several months to make sure that the company completely satisfied the demands of airline industry. Airzena successfully completed the audit process and became IOSA registered airline, which is one of the necessary preconditions for IATA membership. In order to become IOSA registered airline, the company had to completely satisfy 872 standards and requirements.
    In the nearest future the authorities of the air company plan to purchase new aircraft.
   Air company's priorities: permanent and strict protection of flight safety standards; continual renewal of service; keeping of own place in the international market of the strict competition surrounding.
 Georgian Airways is a private air company headed by a General Director with juridical status of LTD. Georg Okujava is its General Director.
