Memorandum between Georgia and China
"Georgian
Airways" and the International Tourism Department of Sichuan have signed a
memorandum of understanding on the opening of regular passenger flights between
Georgia and China. The signing ceremony was held in Chengdu, People's Republic of
China.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Tamaz Gaiashvili,
president of "Georgian Airlines Group" and Deng Fang, general
secretary of Sichuan Tourism Department and chairman of Chamber of Commerce.
Memorandum on promotion of economic, cultural and business relations between
Tbilisi and Chengdu means.
Within the framework of the memorandum, from June,
it is planned to perform regular passenger flights by "Georgian
Airways" in the Chengdu-Tbilisi-Chengdu direction and to use the European
destinations operated by the airline from Tbilisi. The issues of introduction
of modern platforms for the sale of air tickets and promotion of tourist routes
were also discussed at the meeting.
The event was attended by Yuan Honling,
Head of Eurasia Department of Sichuan Foreign Affairs Department, Management of
International Tourism Department of Sichuan, General Director of "Georgian
Airlines" Irakli Mezvrishvili and First Deputy Tsisia Panchvidze. The
issue of opening regular flights between Georgia and China became even more
urgent during the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to China, after the
signing of the agreement on strategic partnership between the two countries.
